3×4 (2023 — ongoing)
This project began as a game.
In the summer of 2023, during a solo road trip, I entered a small photo studio and asked for a black-and-white 3×4 portrait «for work.» The request became a way to stay — to observe, to enter the space, to share a brief moment with it.
Since then, I’ve developed a simple ritual: in each city where I spend the night, I visit a local studio and make the same image. The photograph becomes not a document, but a chosen trace of presence — a way of encountering the place.
This gesture shifts roles: from a person fulfilling a function to an observer, a participant, a narrator. It introduces lightness and play, guided not by necessity but by an inner impulse.
The project brings together 3×4 portraits alongside images of studio interiors, envelopes, and business cards — fragments reflecting both the spaces and the people who shape them.
In smaller towns, these studios often retain a distinct atmosphere and the imprint of their owners; in larger cities, they dissolve into anonymous services. Moving between them, the work traces how spaces hold memory and identity.
